I don't know about the Wind River but Nikon up graded the Monachs a couple years ago. Before I bought my Monachs I compared them to Swarovski's,Leica and Pentex. For the difference in price I couldn't see that much of a difference in Light gathering or clarity. There is a slight difference but not $700 worth. For $300 you get a lot of glass. Jerry
