If memory serves, I heard of a jacketed bullet one time that was mercury filled but I have no clue as to whether such a thing actually existed. This was supposed to have an "explosive" effect, but it would not be a true "explosion" as there would be no conversion of matter into energy (either via chemical or atomic reactions).
