Default RE: Stickbow vs Compound (training wheels)

May I interpret that as saying that you're better with a compound and it gives you a greater opportunity to kill a deer than you would with your recurve ? Absolutely nothing wrong with that, just trying to read between the lines. Thoughts of 300 fps, 80% letoff, 50-60 yards accuracy etc etc dance through my head occassionally too !
My statement is simple and not ment to insult any trad guys. I think it is a cool way to hunt. But it all depends what you are hunting.

Yes, a trad bow is going to be harder to kill deer with than a compound. But most trad guys (the ones I have met and talked to, do not trophy hunt.) Most shoot does and young bucks - again a tougher way to hunt these deer than with a compound.

So between the lines it reads - I still think guys who persue mature bucks on pressured land with a compound have much more difficult task than a trad guy hunting "deer" on that same land. I know for a fact I could wacked a truck load of small bucks and does with trad equip this year - really not that hard to do in some areas.

I use a compound because I need the advantage it gives me - when you are presented one or two oportunities a year at a good buck - you need to make it count.

I wouldn't ever make that a point to argue with a trad guy until a trad guy makes it a point to argue (or just discuss) it with me.

Sorry but trad guys plinking doe and dinks does not really impress me - IMO its not as hard as some make it out to be.

Its still a great way to persue this sport - and have fun

There are many different levels to this sport - trad is just one of them.
