Default RE: Have you ever been lost while hunting or scouting?

As Wahunter said, "I was a might bit confused for a few hours".

I jumped on the tracks of an Elk one time, late afternoon, and snowing like
crazy. I tracked it until it was to dark to see, so I turned around and headed
back in what I thought was the direction I had came. The road that I had
started from took a turn I wasnt aware of and went in another direction. I
walked in the dark for a couple of hours, coyotes howling all around me and
snowing like crazy. I had a 22 revolver with me, I shot it in a series of 3 shots
until I ran out of ammo hoping one of my partners would hear it. No luck. I was about to hunker down for the night when I seen some headlights on a ridge about a mile away. I headed for those headlights and came out about a half
mile from where I started. My hunting partners were out looking for me and
his headlights were the ones I had seen. He said he had emptied his 9mm
trying to get my attention, and I had never heard a shot because of the howling wind and snow. I was cold, wet and tired and I will admit, not looking to spend the night with the Coyotes. I was sure glad to be back at camp!

I did have stuff in my pack to spend the night, but was not looking forward
to having to do that. Stupid mistakes on my part got me into that situation.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
