Do not use anything with Molassess as heat will cause it to melt and gum up the spinner. A good protein feed and corn mixed 50/50 will help but nothing takes the place of a good food crop.
I plant a food plot each year and I also use feeders. Why? Right now we are about 18" of rain below or normal. To say things are dry just dont cut it. No irrigation here also. Feeders help but right now I would need to feed a lot more corn/protein than I can afford to make any difference. We are down to two cattle tanks for water and they are low. If you have any rain/snow you dont want we will take all you can send.
Is your feeder the one with the photo cell? If so you may find you want to buy their program timer that can be placed into this feeder. Works better. Me I am sold on the On Time feeder.
If you have hogs Hang it from a tree thats the only way to hog proof one. If they cant reach it they cant tear it up. If not get at least 2 t post per leg, angle them across each leg and drive them as deep as you can then chain them to each leg. Should keep you out of trouble for a while.
Also do yourself a favor and do not hunt over a feeder. Use it as just a feeding tool and then find a area away from the plot and feeder to hunt.
