RE: Tell me about Schmidt & Bender scopes
Hi SAKO.308,
I have very limited experience with Schmidt & Bender scopes.....in the past I've owned two (if my memory isn't slipping). They were both 30mm tubes, one was a low powered variable...the other a mid powered variable. They both had German style reticles...and changed size with power changes.
They were of very high quality and I would have no qualms with saying they compared favorably to Kahles, Zeiss, and Swarovski's....all of which I have owned as well. They were wonderfully bright, clear, and adjustments precise, (as well they should be for their cost). Of all the brands listed above the only one that I ever had a need for servicing was a 2.5X10X50, 30mm tube w/steel mounting rail Zeiss. I had it in German claw mounts on a Voere and it wouldn't focus above 7X. I contacted Zeiss of America...they paid shipping both ways...and had my scope returned to me in less than two working weeks. I never had a problem with the Schmidt & Benders.
I would not be afraid to recommend them to my "best friends or family"!
Hope that helps.
