I'd bet that if you look at your release jaw you will see a little rough spot there where the metal D loop chewed into the jaw and created it's onw little "hook". Your release might chew up a rope loop now unless you smooth up the rough spot with some 600 grit wet or dry sand paper Let us know what you find, Russ.
