RE: Mad cow in the USA
So we have two threads here: One is the US should take responsibility for their mess, the other is it's all the Liberal government's fault. If you're from Alberta it's always someone else's fault. Sure hope this cow turns out not to be Alberta Origin, because farmers, etc... all over Alberta and Canada are just as affected. But if the industry doesn't own the problem it won't go away. Farmers are far too passive about their low standards (ask the people of Walkerton). It's all "the family farm" meanwhile they are a major industry that polutes, and is hardly touched for it. Every farmer is touched by this stuff, and should be driving the high standards, but that isn't what happened here. The industry was realy late doing anything about it their feed practices. Nobody owes Alberta a living, and there is no right to participate in the US market unless they are selling a safe product. Canadian industry is the most export dependant of the G7, moreso even than Japan. That's always a risky situation.
