Never ever shoot a deer in the neck with a bow. I have seen several deer shot this way and none have been recoverd at our camp. 1 was on purpose, the other 2 were bad shooting. In all three cases blood trail was good for a while, then nothing. all deer got away.
With a rifle I don't have a problem with it. In fact I made a 40 yard shot on a deer this year, hitting it in the neck, just below the chin. with an accurate scoped rifle this shot is deadly, with a bow it's asking for trouble.
