RE: would you cut a deers throat?
Cybersniper,
I guess we can agree to disagree on this one. I never said I was a better archer than anyone here or that I practice more. In fact, most here are probably better hunters than me. My ego is not so big that I have to brag about all the deer I shoot or claim that I am better than the next guy. I am always willing to learn more about the great sport that I love. I was just putting forth my experience and why I have not ever had to slit a deer's throat. I don't know about you, but I have always been taught to stay on stand 30 minutes after a shot has been made. You also hear this from all the pros on all the hunting shows. Therefore if it takes 10-15 minutes for one to expire, that's what I do. It is not pleasant, but it would be smarter (and safer) than getting my butt kicked by a doe like you did. And by the shot placements I have seen at my local deer processer, I would say most archers do need to practice more than they do. But in no way was that to imply that I am a better archer than anyone else. Just a thought that people may want to consider. If a deer is harvested with a good shot, the odds of having to go to the extreme of slitting a deer's throat are slim to none. Period. End of Story. Good Luck in shooting your next 200 deer.
