RE: 257 roberts
I had the 100 grainer shooting over my chrony a little over 3100 fps. I shot a doe at about 70 yards and hit her behing the shoulder in a rib. The bullet blew a hole in the hide and broke the rib but didn't penetrate any further. I hit the doe again on the run with a spine shot as she was heading up the mountain. I shot two feral hogs on the day afterwards that weighed no more that about 80 lbs. One was a head shot that dropped immediately and the other a shoulder shot that blew up on the shoulder. Requiring another shot to put the animal down. This is why I don't recommend using the 100 grainer. I have had good penetration on deer and feral hogs with the 115 gr. If you do decide to go with a 100 gr. try loading to a lower velocity or go with a Hornady Interlock, I have heard better success stories with that bullet in 100 gr.
