I'd been making, shooting and hunting with homemade bows and arrows for a good six years before I ever got my first storebought gear - a solid glass 45 pound Bear recurve. That was cool. A bow that would never break or wear out.

Unfortunately, I found out it wasn't tornado proof. It was gone with the wind in 1979.

It had been retired for a glass laminated recurve (Shakespeare maybe? I forget) long before that though.
