Here's food for thought.
When you break in a barrell, all you are really doing is polishing the lans. The old shoot-clean-shoot-clean method, in my opinion, is just an extremely inefficcient way of doing that.
This is what I do when I get a new gun.
I take bore brush and favorite solvent to clean the cosmoline (sp?) out of the barrell.
Then I take a patch and put Flitz metal polish on it and take 50-60 strokes with it.
I re-clean with solvent and run patches down the barrell until they are dry.
My new barrell is now broken in! I save all the shoot-clean steps.
