RE: Best bird to start with?
My vote would be for the feral pigeon, for a number of reasons: they are easy & inexpensive to obtain, they are easy & inexpensive to keep, they are easy to plant, there is generally no season on them, so you can usually shoot them anytime, there is usually no need to have special permits, ect, from the DNR, they are easy to plant, they fly well, and sometimes you end up with some homers that keep coming back after training sessions, so your bird bill is further reduced.
