first how old is he. get some deer scent and whatever else you won't him to track.get a drag from local farm store or out of a mag.put the scent on the drag and fool, around with him eventully he will start ,get like a coon tail to, that will work.let him bite the drag and then get somebody to hold him and you take off with the drag with the scent on it he will eventully get the hang of tracking the scent..and take him out hunting with you walk him on top of a dead deer or wounded deer. this is one of my methods to training my coonhounds and beagles. let me no how it goes.and to let you no my coonhounds do not run deer.good luck.
