You can modify a clip to take just 5 rounds, some WW II vets used to do it, and they did love their garands.
You can run lead thru them, but I suggest you make a load that uses equal pressure to a military round as the Garand's operating rod can bend easily, with too much pressure adn it also will not operate with too little.
I wouldn'lt hunt with one though, mainly I have other options that are lighter and shoot better for hunting. But if somebody decides to start arming bears, I will stick my bayonet on my Garand and head out then.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
