It has batteries and a plug in back up should the batteries take a dump. I got it from Amazon for less than #100.00 . the brand name is HOLEWOR. The fingerprint release feature is much faster, instantaneous, than the numerical code option. There are more brands than the one I bought but if you are in the market for a secure handy gun safe this one meets the bill.
