I was an avid hunter in my teens, then life took over and I haven't had much time to even think about it. But I'm finally back. I've moved several counties over from where I grew up and realistically I can't get off of work, drive back to my family and still have time to hunt. I've never hunted public land before but there is at least two public areas around me to hunt and I was just wondering what is the best way to get a good hunting experience without running across other hunters and spooking their deer. Or if any of you know a method to come across private land that owners wouldn't mind me hunting. Any advice will be greatly appreciated and taken seriously! Thanks
If you hunt public land you will run into other hunters which may or may not help, you in your hunt. So far as private land the best thing to do is knock on doors of land owners and asked permission. Have in your pocket a business card or paper with your name address and phone number. Do not knock on doors in dirty work clothes but dress decently. You do not need to wear a suit and tie but wear slacks and a nice shirt to make a a neat appearence. Tell them you are looking for a [lace to hunt deer and one thing that really helps is to tell them you are willing to help with work on the property. I and many of my friends haave had success with this apporach. Good luck.
