I haven't posted on here in a few years and haven't been active for many years before that. For me, it's just a combination of things. As I've gotten older I've found I have a lot less time to hunt and shoot. Back when I was in college, I was shooting almost every weekend, hunting whenever I could, etc. I used to shoot my muzzle loaders quite a bit, because I enjoyed shooting them. As I've gotten older, I'm lucky if I make it to the range 3x a year. My hunting has slowed down nearly as much. I've also gotten to the point where I almost never shoot my muzzle loader for fun. When I'm already limited on time and rarely get to shoot, I've come to hate having to spend the time to clean it as soon as I get done shooting it. I'd love to get back to shooting and hunting like I used to, but it's just not in the cards right now.
I also work in the firearms industry now and I never thought I'd say this, because I used to talk about guns, hunting, etc. 24/7. However, I hear so much dumb stuff about firearms at work all day long, usually from people that have no idea what they are talking about, that when I get off I'm just kind of burnt out on talking about them.
It also became hard to decipher the bs back in the day because there were so many shills on here pushing junk. Like the guy that used to shill for Power Belt. There was also a lot of excellent information, but it was hard to tell which was which. It prompted me to learn a lot more on my own and figure out exactly what worked and didn't work for me.
So it's a combination of all of those factors that led to me visiting a lot less than I used to. I stopped in now, because I have been debating on if I want to pay the outrageous Gunbroker pricing and give a Savage ML a try. The idea of shooting smokeless powder and not having to rush to clean it that night seems attractive. So I decided to stop in and read some old threads on them. I'll admit, it's kind of cool seeing a few familiar names that are still here.
