All great advice. I would like to add, from my experience. Big ole Tom's are very weary birds. Hunting silent birds is way harder IMO than hunting birds that sound off to calls. You may have called in an Ole tom and not even have known it. If you tend to move, or adjust your seating or whatever, he may have seen you already. Blinds are good tools for hunting quiet birds. If he comes in silent, likely he wont see you moving if you are in a blind. Try putting out a couple of decoys and sitting in a blind about 30 yards from them. Good Luck!
