Try a tight fitting rag on cleaning rod and use Flitz... they claim it's non-abrasive. But it makes a load glide down the bore.
Take your time and swab until you make a difference.
It won't happen quickly.
Basically your using a light polishing compound to smooth the bore's machining marks left on the walls of the lands and grooves.
