Dry Bag on Pack Frame
Hello everyone. New to the forum, so if this question has been asked before please let me know. For the last few years I have been running an Alps Commander frame pack for both back packing and backwoods hunting in both NY and NC. If you're not familiar with the pack, it has a light weight frame, a 4200 cubic inch pack that can be detached and an open style "Meat Lashing System." Here's my question. Has anyone run the meat lashing system without the pack, but rather used a large dry bag. This would allow me to use the similar type compression system when hauling white tail out of the woods, as one of the more expensive packs w/ a load shelf system. If I went to my beautiful wife, after buying a 500-600 dollar pack, i would be living out of that pack permanently. Has anyone tried something like this before, and if so did it work well, or was it not worth the effort? Thanks in advance for any help.
