It’s a LOT of fun to “Swing At” of all people, I know you can do it!! You are the one helping me, and have saved me a TON of time, and frustration.
This is funny, and worth the Read! A little background on Yesterday’s Shoot. I found my Spot the day before and Came up with a Plan. I knew i could get well over 800 Yards here, i can actually get 900-925 Yards here, But I Settled on 825. Anyway, I contacted 1874sharpsshooter the Day Before and asked him how many MOA he figured I would need for this Distance? Without knowing my Velocity and Just Closely guessing, he came up with a Rough Ballpark figure of 100 MOA,
The Funny part about yesterday is I Second guessed my buddy Chet and that Costed me Powder, and Lead!! I decided 80-85 MOA would be about right? I was Wrong!!! That Old Logging Grade that my Gong is Setup on is DUSTY, Really Dusty! I was Confident i would be able to see the Dust “Kick up” from Bullet impact, I held 80 Minutes and “Shipped” 1 down there, NOTHING Visible? I loaded back up and went again at 80 MOA, NOTHING again? I loaded up again 2 times, but this time i held 85 MOA, Stil NOTHING on both of those?? Remember, i NEVER shoot more than 10, maybe 12 Shots, and i NEVER Bring Cleaning supplies, when my Gun is Dirty after my 10, Maybe 12 Shots i head for home to Clean. Counting my Cold bore “Throw Away” Fouler, i had just Burned 5 of my 10 Shots. It was at this Point that I thought, Maybe Ole Chet’s right?
So I held 90 Minutes, BINGO! The Dust Kicked up in front of the Gong! But Without a Spotter i Couldn’t tell how far? I just knew i Definitely seen Dust PUFF Up in Front of the Gong. I loaded up again and Held 95 MOA, That Actually threw Rocks up and Chipped Paint on the Gong!! I was there, REALLY REALLY Close! But that only left me 3 Shots to make it Happen. I went to 100 MOA and Cut the Bottom edge of my 2X4 Directly above my Gong, i was THERE!!

Moral of the Story, Had i of listened to My Friend 1874Sharpsshooter i would have POUNDED that Gong in 3-4 Shots MAX. I had to Drive 30 Miles home DEFEATED, and Thinking to myself “You were given the info” and you didn’t Listen to it!! My hat is off to Chet (1874Sharpsshooter) He is a LITERAL Wealth of Knowledge in this Stuff, Thank you my Friend! I won’t 2nd guess ya again
