Jenks, it is true that they can be made to work, it is also true that due to a number of things that are variable you will never get as consistent accuracy with fixed heads. My dad made long bows back before there were any commercially available and I started hunting with a long bow before I was 12 years old I am 82 now and still average 4 deer a year. I built my first cross bow in the late 60's and that was before they were commercially available I took 3 place in the us mail tournament with it. There are some times and game I would still use a fixed head for but for deer at any distance over 20 yards with a fast cross bow I believe the chance of a wounded hit instead of a kill is greater.
