I hope this is the right place for my query....

I have two Mathews bows, a Switchback, and a Switchback XT. My wife bought me the Switchback a few years ago (used) for my birthday, so I'm partial to it. It's 70/29 according to the decal. A year or so later, my nephew needed some cash, so I bought the XT from him, thinking it was identical to the one I already had. (I'm a firm believer in back-ups....)

Had a severe case of tendonitis about 5 years ago and could hardly pull a bow, so haven't bow-hunted in a while, but the bug is biting and I'm wanting to get in gear for next fall. Thinking of taking both bows and having them tuned. Mainly curious as to what makes folks say the XT is "better"? I know it's shorter, but they appear to be very similar bows. The XT is currently at 28", which is a tad short for me, but I can manage it. If I have it tuned, I'll likely have the cam changed to a 29".

The Switchback has a drop-away rest, aftermarket quiver and "hard" D-ring(?) release loop...the XT has a Whisker-Biscuit rest, Mathews quiver and string loop.

Any thoughts/feedback on the two bows? Also, prior to these two bows, I used an old PSE with no release loop, using mechanical release directly on the bowstring (which is what the previous owner used...no idea as to whether that's "acceptable" or not). Of the two, is here an advantage to one over the other? (Hard or string?)
