I’ve been hunting for 44 years, and the vast majority of the deer I’ve killed have been killed with a bow. I do a little gun hunting, and given the increased range with a gun I don’t feel as strongly about scent control as I do with a bow. With a bow, it matters a lot... As for scent sprays, science has proven they make hunters feel good but do little to cover scent. I pay very close attention to cleanliness, and wind direction and don’t hunt stands if I know the wind is wrong for the stand (assuming deer movement is predictable).

Here’s the thing. If you hunt long enough you will encounter situations that just baffles you completely. A deer that just does something you can’t believe, or a situation where they do something inexplicable or just stupid.. But those are anomalies, and because of that more times than not those situations will not work out regularly, or maybe never again. For sure it isn’t something you should rely on, incorporate into your approach or change your approach because of.
