I once caught two guys hunting Tundra Swans in a cut corn field, I was running towards them shouting to stop shooting, they kept shooting and the swans continued to land in the field. More landed while I was writing the hunters citations. They killed 6 swans. They thought they were Snow geese and said they were wondering why no one else was hunting them. They found out why when I handed them the citations. No mistake kills on protected species. I suspect Swans get more wary when they are legal to hunt. Some are killed every year in PA by people who don't know what they are doing, even at the Game Commissions waterfowl management area Middle Creek .
