RE: .25-06 any opinions?
There was a misprint in my table for the barnes bullet but the 115gr 25-06 nosler partition data is correct and it carries 955 ft lbs at 500 yards while dropping 35.8" with a 200 yard zero.It is also a bullet that is suitable for big game up to elk and will not come apart at close ranges like the the 85gr-243 sierra bullets that you refer to.The winchester 85gr ballistic silvertip load for the 25-06 starts out at 3470fps and will only be 32.5" low at 500 yards with a 200 yard zero but then again it will probably come apart at close ranges like the light sierra bullets. The bottom line is that when suitable big game bullets such as the partition and scirocco are used the 25-06 will shoot flatter and hit harder than the 243win.
