A rifle, meaning its barrel has grooves inside it that "spin" the bullet, to stabilize it in flight.
It is a magazine-fed rifle, since the ammunition enters the action (where the mechanisms for firing and loading the gun are) from a magazine, in this case, a detachable one.
Whether or not it is an "assault rifle" depends on whether the rifle has a "select fire" option. That is, the user may choose between fully automatic fire (continues firing as long as the trigger is pulled) or semi-automatic fire (fires only once, each time the trigger is pulled). Most civilian models of the AK-47 in countries like the US are only semi-automatic. In either case, the user only has to manually chamber the first round; the rifle is designed to capture some of the hot gases from each shot to operate the action.
Are you looking for a rifle to hunt with in India? I'd consider something other than an AK-47, since the cartridge (7.62x39 Soviet) does not have great ballistics beyond short ranges.
