I think ballistics tables can sometimes give us a skewed picture of cartridges. The remington chart is comparing a .243 swift scirrocco(one of the most streamlined hunting bullets available) to remingtons flat base spitzers. If similar bullets are compared, the .25-06 will show a decided advantage. The .25-06 also shoots 75gr. varmint bullets quite well.
