It would be nice to know what method you used and how you made out. As for myself, I always use red loctite when mounting my scopes. But what amazes me is how much most fellows use. When I do this I place a bit of Loctite on a sheet of Post-it paper and, using a toothpick, apply a small drop on the thread end of the screw and snug all the screws up equally. Another thing I see is how much torque a lot of people apply to scope ring screws. You don't have to have gorilla strength. I think the recommended torque is something like 15-20 inlbs.
