Haha more complications. Dang! Well, I don’t believe he has a good scope but he’s always talking about wanting a good pair of binos so I’m really not sure? I suppose I could just get him a good pair and he can exchange for whatever. I didn’t want to get too much info out of him without giving it away I was getting him a pair.

When I'm deer/coyote hunting, I have a 7x range finder and use a 15-45x spotting scope for anything I can't see with the RF. With the LRF, I wouldn't ever use a set of compact binos, and I do my range glassing with spotting scopes. In the middle, I just don't have much use for "standard" binos. Your husband might be the same...
If looking for a "standard" bino... Bushnell Legend M series 10x42 will deliver anything the Vortex Viper 10x42 can, but at about 1/2-2/3 the price. Lots of guys love to bash Bushnell because they can be a little clunky on design and execution, but the brightness and clarity are fantastic (glass quality and coatings).
There's nothing "wrong" with the Leupold, Nikon, or Vortex in that price range, but for the money, you get more product value out of the Bushnells.
