RE: Trail Cameras
I have the photoscout and am very pleased with it. never a false picture and excellent service. It comes with a standard 1 min and 5 minute delay and I sent the unit in to have it reprogramed for a 20 min and 1 hour delay since I put it on feeders often as a way of getting good counts on my deer. have tried the moultrie and a few others sold at wal mart only to take them back. It allows you to check for how many picts are taken without disamantling your set up from the tree using a mangnet. also, the infra red and heat sensor never fails in the summer time when temps are elevated up close to 100 farh which can happen with the cheaper units. as the ambient air gets close to or exceeds the body temp the cheaper sensors cannot detect a deer and you will miss a lot of picts except in the late even, night, or early morning when the air temp is cooler than body temp and the sensor can distinguish between the two. now with all that being said, I personally am glad to have one but I would wait as the digitals are progessing rapidly. the cost of film development can get expensive and the instant satifaction of digital is priceless. oh forgot to say I get about 4 months out of the 4aa batteries for the sensor and about 150 flash pictures with the 2aa batteries used for the camera. Battery life is one pitfall of the digital evolution. all digital cameras eat batteries and most are limited to about 30-40 pictures using a flash maybe less depending on the amount of standby time in between picture taking. the photo scout is pricey in the range of 300.00 dollars. I purchased a locking system for it for an additional 40.00. if interested i would contact them directly as you may get a better deal. I do not work for this company but believe in spreading the news to help someone make an informed decision. I hope this reply doesn' t go against the board rules on solicitation.
