Default Trr stand safety PLEASE READ

I am a hunter education instructor for the PGC and we held a class yesterday for new hunters. The local county WCO did the initial introduction and gave us all some new insight in the use of tree stands and gave us all a good education on them and the use of ratchet straps.
You must be very careful when using OTC straps. Most are very prone to UV radiation and weaken in a short period of time - AS LITTLE AS TWO WEEKS - where they can lose half their strength.
The ones supplied by the tree stand manufacturers are UV protected but should be inspected every time you use the stand. When you purchase new ones - get them from the manufacturer or as a minimum be sure they are made from polyester. Polyester has a better resistance to UV light and is also stronger then nylon or polypropylene.
Take care and hunt safe.
