I have been using the Lyman 17 series of globes for about a dozen years. The inserts that came with the Lyman are pathetic at best. When I switched to the Lee Shavers it was like night and day difference.
My son uses the fine cross hair for his rifles. I like the medium pin for mine. I do paint the inside of the globe white to allow more light. I also paint the dot on my pin. My son doesn't like the inside of the globe to be white. It is a personal preference. I have never had the threaded part back out. I have had the peep back out and I check that regular.
Keep us posted how the shooting comes along.
