If I may add to this thread without causing a fuss I will add this.
As far as wind direction goes it isn't really cut and dried. The weather may say the wind is out of say the SW and when you go stand in a field or say had a wind vane out in a field you would almost surely be able to verify the wind coming out of the SW.
But when you enter the woods it can all easily change with swirling winds, rising or dropping thermals, etc.. How many times have you been around a campfire and everyone, no matter what their position around it, gets a face full of smoke now and then.
Yes I generally like the wind in my face and I like to move thru the woods of fields with the wind in my face too.
