Default RE: Any Hunting Deer with Lever Action Rifles?

Ram96, personally I love the 30-30 caliber, especially in the Winchester model 94. You ask, "How is this caliber when it comes to hunting other than whitetails?" In my judgment IF you get within suitable range and place the bullet in the "killzone" the 30-30 is adequate (perhaps not perfect, but adequate) for most North American game medium to big game animals. There are premium bullets available for the 30-30, and I believe it's Federal that loads the nosler partition as a factory round. If we read the older hunting journals it is noted that the caliber was actually used to take whitetail, muledeer, black bear, grizzly, moose, elk, and other game animals. I do want to repeat for the sake of clarity...it is adequate, though not the perfect choice for most North American game animals. Maybe this shows that you don't need a "wham bang new fangle scorching speedster red hot screaming meemie magnum" to take most of our game animals, but it's o.k. if that what a person wants
