WOW! A one-day response from CVA/BPI. I'm impressed.

Van,

Our powder measures are calibrated as if the volume was being filled with
original Black Powder. Each powder has a different density and we calibrate the
measures to be a by volume equivalent to original black powder. Loose Triple 7
has a lighter density and 100 grains by volume of loose Triple 7 if weighed on a
scale would weigh less than 100 grains. Blackhorn 209 powder lists the maximum
charge to be 120 grains by volume. The actual weight of 120 grains by volume is
only 84 grains on a scale. One hundred grains by weight of Blackhorn 209 would
exceed the safe usable limit established by the Blackhorn 209 manufacturer.

Because of the actual weight variations of each powder we use only a by volume
equivalency of original black powder.
