most shots at bears are under 30 yards, but since i want a multi purpose gun (also to be used for deer where longer shots are possible) a 12ga or 450 isn't my top option, id like something flatter. I can assure you that my 450 Marlin is deadly at 200+ yards. How do I know that? I've shot elk at that distance with it. I suggest you spend a little time actually investigating some rounds. How many buffalo do you think the hide hunters laid low at ranges up to 500+ yards with things like the 45-70? To dismiss a cartridge like that shows you don't know much about them.
