The number of hunting-related shootings has been trending down over the last several years. I think the hunter education classes and laws concerning wearing blaze-orange on public lands has helped bring these accidents down. Also, many East Texas counties have went to 13"+ and spike rules to allow the deer a chance to grow older. In a round-about way, I think that has helped bring shooting accidents down too!
The old, "brown is down," doesn't cut it anymore! You actually have to see the deer long enough to judge it now or you could wind up with a hefty fine!
