If you already own an -06, you own probably the best general purpose big game rifle available. That said, if you just want to buy a new gun and you're thinking bigger game in the Artic, I'd say go big. 30-06, 300 WinMag, and 300 WSM all shoot the same size bullet. Go .338 or bigger. That's my vote.
