I'm a fan of the 7-08 for youths as it can be had in a youth rifle. One company had a combo that came with two stocks one adult one youth but it's been a while since I've seen this out there. I also like the idea of a 22 to get them started that's how I started and learned so much more than sitting in a deer stand. Going to the range is a blast too
