I recently acquired a CVA Express double barrel side by side .50 cal percussion muzzle loader. It has been many years since i hunted with a front stuffer. Will this gun handle the newer powders? In percussions have you guys had better luck with 777 or pyrodex? Also, i would like to possibly switch to a different nipple style, should i go go with musket siza?
I have shot with some shooters with these newer doubles as well as Pedersoli doubles at the NMLRA and some have them shooting very well. The match is a steel target 20 shot match at various distances from 30-120yds - just one afternoon of double fun. I didn't note any who were shooting 777, Musket caps or sabots.
