I agree. I never got into setting up mock scrapes in advance. My way of hunting was to stay out of the area I was going to hunt to not alert deer of my presence. If you are hunting and hit a natural saddle with some natural scrapes a mock would be a good tool to possibly promote competition and plan on spending some time in that area. I am a still hunter and always moving so when I hit an area like I described I slow way down and spend some time there. It is interesting at least to me that those special spots are the same year after year. A saddle between mountain peaks especially if it has an old grown up logging road will usually be covered with scrapes. I normally don't spend time around field edges where there are normally scrapes and rubs since most of that happens at night.
