I'm reading the novel Heaven's Fury by Stephen Frey.

Our hero is being shot at in a dark log cabin by someone with "what has to be a 12 gauge" because from across the room the first shot blew a basket ball size in the wall next to him and the second shot blew the sill off of the door on his other side. The he says "he's probably using an over and under, which means he has two shots left".

I hate it when stuff like that ruins what otherwise is a good read.
