Oh, my 300 pistol (150 grains at 2850 fps) doesn't kick all that bad. The guy who made it built a really intelligently designed muzzlebrake for it. Honestly, the same gun but with a 12", non-ported 270 Winchester barrel (150 grains at 2380 fps) kicks worse. Then there's my 14" Performance Center Model 460, with its 200 grain billets travelling at 2650 fps for 3100 ft-lbs of muzzle energy - now that sucker will rise up off the bench quite a ways if I limp wrist it.
