LMAO,,,You see one like that I got just one thing to say,,,,DON'T SHOOT WITH THAT LITTLE .50 PRB!!! Unless you have a LOT of backup! You wouldn't even be a light snack for that bugger!! He was all fattened up and ready for a nap!

In all seriousness though MD, I've taken quite a few Black Bears in my days back when I hunted them. Several in my family love Bear meat, I don't like it myself but I love Bear pelts so I hunted them for meat for the family. No one left in my family likes it so I don't hunt them anymore. Anywho, just be careful is what I am getting at. Hit bears are as unpredictable an animal as there is. I've seen them absorb well placed shots from 180gr .30/06, spin TOWARDS the shot and try their damndest to get to me. I've put arrows straight through the heart and it went for damn near 200 yards before crashing.

If I were you, and dead set on those .50cal PRB's, I'd recast them and add some lead free solder to the mix to harden and toughen them up a bit. I generally went with 1 pound LFS per 50 Lead. Tiny bit of copper in that lead free stuff adds to the toughness. It's a bit expensive if you make a lot but you really wouldn't need them tougher for anything other than Black Bear. Even a Black Bears rib bones are pretty darn tough, add to that thick fur and hide, heavy fat layer, muscle galore, and you have a pretty tough customer to get through.
