I have heard that one cannot hunt in some areas of Alaska without a guide unless one is an Alaska resident. The thought is that there is too much risk for non-residents going out without appreciating the hazards. His idea was a DIY sort of deal. Maybe he found out that was not legally permitted when he checked closer.


Can anyone comment on that? Is it legal for a non-resident to hunt unguided in a place like the Brooks Range?
