Youth season finally started today and we had a great time but I missed 2 big gobblers. 1 at 18 yards and 1 at 23 yards. I normally hit good at these distances in practice but I missed these gobblers. I am 9 years old. My papa wanted me to ask you all if you think a .410 is strong enough for turkey. After today he's wondering because in practice I always hit the target good with the bulk of the bb's in the paper plates. Let me know what you all think.
It's definitely not impossible to kill a turkey with a .410 but since you're having trouble with it, I would try to upgrade. It wouldn't hurt to try. I usually use a 12 gauge.
I've never turkey hunted with a .410 but I would think they would need to be a little closer than normal. And from what I've read, it's a little more difficult. Maybe one of our other team members could offer you some better insight.
