Bored with the .270? Jake, I've taken my .270 all over with me. It's a Rem 700 that will shoot 1/2 MOA if I do my part. I've done it several times. Almost every deer I shot at with it was DRT. For any big game except moose and the big bears it is perfectly capable. All be it a tad light for elk. But it will work.
If you want to rebarrel there are loads of options with that bolt head size. If yo want a hammer you can go with the 338 Federal or, because you have a long action, the 35 Whelen. Both are easy to make cases for out of 308 or 30-06 brass.
